Week 8:
Team Discussion

Monday 21st March 2022

WEEKLY DISCUSSION

WEEK 8 - TEAM DISCUSSION

Monday 21st March

Purpose for Discussion:

Weekly discussion with Kiera regarding the previous weeks and our next steps. Overall check-up and evaluation of progress.

NOTES:

  • Previous week spent problem-solving and discussing limitations of hardware/software, spoke about overcoming our technical issues.

  • Lost a little time due to the deadline of our essays - spent the last week focusing on this.

  • Considering our last discussion with James we know this week we have to fulfil our first milestone by making the first prototype of our four stages.

  • This week we will create a prototype for the core interaction for our game - project onto walls and interact on PC using gesture control/webcams. Scheduled to do this in the next few days - Wednesday/Thursday.

  • Will spend tomorrow scheduling for the upcoming weeks/Easter Break - set ourselves individuals tasks we can do for the holidays.

  • Plan to catch up with personal documentation during this time too.

  • Finish this week with new plans for the set-up - will be required to talk with Adam and James just to confirm last decisions! We don't want to keep going back and forth.

CONCLUSION

NEXT STEPS

  • Both of us to hand in our essays today and tomorrow begin with our schedule for the upcoming weeks (Easter Break).

  • Wednesday 23rd - Prototype gesture control and projection. Test with this prototype - how do people feel, is it soothing etc?

  • Thursday 24th - catch up on personal documentation.

  • Friday 25th - New plans for set-up and specifications.

  • Focus on getting first stage of the 4 steps finalised - discuss with James and share milestones.

  • Easter Break! Finalise schedule for Easter Break and update each other with to do/completion lists etc.

EVALUATION  & REFLECTION

WHAT WENT WELL?

Last week we spent the majority of our time working on our essays and are on schedule to hand them in this afternoon! We discussed with James the set up of the space and discussed around our limitations - we now have a more structured plan regarding how to work around this. Although we have been set back a week due to our essays, we have a good plan for the upcoming weeks and know what we need to do to progress.

WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL?

We have faced a few limitations throughout the duration of the project involving the setup of hardware/software which has been the hardest thing to deal with, however, we have a more suitable plan set in place which will allow us to make more direct decision making in the next week or two. We have agreed that during the Easter Break we will still work just as hard and make sure to complete the tasks we were unable to previously due to issues arising and other setbacks.

CHANGES WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS WEEK/NEXT STEPS:

This week we plan to continue with our prototyping and have this completed in order to play test and evaluate the effectiveness of our experience. We also intend to have a schedule for the Easter Break completed by tomorrow which'll allow us to work in line with this and ensure we are on track during the holidays. Next steps for now are to hand-in our essays and begin scheduling tomorrow, the 22nd March.
