Week 5: Team Discussion

WEEK 5
Weekly discussion time!
WEEK 5 - TEAM DISCUSSION
Monday 28th February

NOTES:

-
Last week we gathered a lot of advice regarding the setup of the space and our new gameplay idea - we both feel more confident knowing our concept is on the go now and are aware of our next steps.
-
According to our schedule, Week 5 was initially meant to be spent producing assets however, because we ran into issues along the way, we have had to push this back.
-
After speaking with James and assessing our options, we have decided to continue with the idea of gesture control and disregard the idea for touch controllers. This way we can work in 2D and require a much simpler set-up.
-
We have created a new Refined Project Scope. As for the set up of the space, we have decided to construct our own space by putting screens together. (Projectors are yet to be discovered).
-
This week, it's my responsibility to create the Art Bible so we can begin with asset creation as soon as possible.
-
Must get into contact with Harry Williams (Sound Designer) to discuss next steps for Sound Production.
-
Emilia to continue with marketing.
-
We agreed with James to meet again in the next few weeks regarding the development of the 'webcam processing' program.
CONCLUSION

NEXT STEPS

-
Next steps for me will be to test with different materials/art styles and then create the Art Bible to begin asset creation.
-
Both of us to continue prototyping the experience and problem-solving as we go.
-
By WEEK 6 we should be testing projectors and setting up a potential setup/scene to visualise our idea.
-
Both to begin planning our essays and work towards this. (Due 21st March) - Aware this may set us both back a little.
-
Emilia to contact Harry Williams (Sound Designer) by the end of the week.
EVALUATION & REFLECTION
WHAT WENT WELL?
We have come to the conclusion to scrap the idea of touch controllers completely and continue with gesture control. From our research and evaluation we feel this would be the best choice in terms of our essential experience and what is most achievable in the upcoming weeks. James has also agreed to work with us on this to ensure we have a successful functioning outcome. For now, I must continue working on visual concepts to test with in a space and built an Art Bible to progress with Asset Creation. We feel more confident knowing we have made choices and moved on from our worries, now we can comfortable move on with development.

NEXT STEPS/CHANGES WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS WEEK:
This week will be spent focusing on the visuals within the space which we can test with in WEEK 6. Kiera is also scheduled to continue working on her 'raycasting' prototype so we have a Virtual Reality experience working too, incase the idea for the physical space fails. (It won't!) We must also get in contact with 'WSA Media Stores' to hire projectors to use and test next week with our choice of visuals. This will give us a better idea of the options we have for setup. We plan to evaluate the effectiveness of our setup choices and come to a rapid decision regarding this.
