Week 2: Team Discussion
Monday 7th February 2022
WEEK 2 - TEAM DISCUSSION
Monday 7th February

NOTES:

-
Enjoyed lectures from Derek Yates and Emma Raey - used this to influence image and branding.
-
Both happy with progress of our branding.
-
Set-up Twitter and Instagram - happy with our chosen game name.
-
Need to send Adam Procter our domain name so we can get our wordpress template set up.
-
Should ideally be spending this next week refining the scope and thinking about interactions. How they might work etc.
-
Need to make quick and rapid decisions - stop worrying about documentation!
-
We both agree that we'd like our player to go on some sort of journey.
-
Could be a physical journey - could simplify this.
-
Would love to incorporate music into it - both did a lot of research around this and feel it would be useful for the purpose of the space.
-
The design should be in 2D - stick to what we know and what we do best.
CONCLUSION

NEXT STEPS

-
Continue with branding and the set up of our Instagram/Twitter. Marketing should continue throughout project.
-
Spend the next week refining the scope further and considering types of interactions in the space.
-
Need to discuss with James Stallwood how to set-up the space in Unity.
-
Think about finalising box specifications which we can pass on in the next few weeks.
-
For the following week we must contact relevant people regarding construction of box and set-up of projectors.
-
Next few weeks should be to refine and finalise material. More planning and design.
-
Create new schedule once project scope has been refined.
EVALUATION & REFLECTION
WHAT WENT WELL?
Last week Kiera and I spent the week thinking about the branding of our game and getting things set-up ready for marketing and promotional material etc. This discussion allowed us to evaluate our next steps and think about how we should start this week which we agreed to have a heavy focus on the size of the scope and the design of the gameplay experience. We feel this is something that will extend across the next few weeks in order to make sure things work and are feasible. We're on track at the moment and to ensure we stick to this, we must make sure by the end of this week we have a refined schedule which we can use to manage our time better.

WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL?
Still a slight worry around the interactions in the space and getting this setup so that it works. However, we plan to begin by simply thinking about what we'd like from this space as students ourselves, and brainstorming from there. To overcome our worries and queries, we have a talk arranged with James this week regarding Unity and tips for inspiration to continue with the gameplay itself.

CHANGES WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS WEEK:
This week we will be focusing on refining the project scope by disregarding elements and only including what is most important. This will adjust our entire schedule/time-table but is the highest on our priority list as of right now. As we have only just begun this Semester, these weekly discussions will become more detailed throughout the project and I am aware more changes or adjustments will have to be made.

NEXT STEPS FOR THIS WEEK:
Next steps for this week will be to start thinking about the use of the space and the interactions that might come with it. We plan to gain a little inspiration around this by talking to our peers and tutors to gather fresh opinions. I intend to do a lot of mind-mapping and brainstorming regarding how we can use the space and eventually form some ideas considering our previous research and expectations of the space.
