WEEK 6 - TEAM DISCUSSION

Monday 7th March​

 

Purpose for Discussion:

Weekly Discussion - progress check-up, discuss any problems we've faced and next steps.

NOTES:

​

  • Last week, we focused more on our personal tasks. I updated Kiera with the completion of the art bible and other documents - plan to forward her these documents by the end of this week. (Will attach to Trello)

  • Informed Kiera that our Sound Designer is still happy to work on the sound for our project, will keep him in the loop throughout.

  • We both agreed to carry out testing this week to evaluate the setup for the space and come to a conclusion on what exactly we will use - in terms of screens, projectors and panels etc.

  • Today we plan to contact WSA Media Stores to hire equipment to carry out testing this week.

  • My responsibility to continue marketing on Instagram and Twitter - capture moments of development to post.

  • Kiera had been looking into gesture control more and games online that do a similar thing to ours through webcam - can experiment with this.

NEXT STEPS

​

  • First thing to do this week is get into contact with WSA Media Stores and borrow equipment to test. This way we can decide which projectors we are going to use first and go from here.

  • Schedule a discussion with Adam (weekly check-up) tomorrow.

  • Carry out prototypes/testing in the next few days once we have secured the equipment.

  • Spend this week coming to a conclusion regarding the space setup, gathering dimensions and measurements and creating mockups for the space. (Drawings and digital plans)

EVALUATION  & REFLECTION​

 

WHAT WENT WELL?

Last week, I was able to create a detailed document for the art style for Getaway which I believe will be useful for distributing tasks between us and ensuring we keep a consistent art style between us, and produce high quality assets. I also produced the documents needed to assess asset production and ensure we are working on schedule, here I will provide Kiera with feedback and changes that'll need to be made during this process. (As well as a tab to mark completion) Last week I also checked in with our Sound Designer and I am pleased to say he is still dedicated to the job and I cannot wait for this to get started! Kiera also found a few prototyping tools which we can experiment with once we have found our desired setup for Getaway! We have an appropriate plan for this week and will begin by contacting WSA Media Stores.

WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL?

We have decided we have to be much better with planning. We feel as though we are taking on too much at once when really we have to focus on one thing before moving onto the next. Because of this, we plan to spend this week prototyping/testing and move back our plans for Asset Production into Week 8/9. This way we can focus on finalising specific decisions before undertaking the next task. We must stick to our Agile Methodology and tackle one problem at a time!

CHANGES WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS WEEK/NEXT STEPS:

I have adjusted the schedule accordingly and for now, must stick to our plans for testing this week. Once we have acquired the equipment we need, we will set up an experimental scene to demonstrate what the space might look like and evaluate the use of different projectors/media players to do so. This week, Kiera is set to create a second version for the Virtual Reality VR prototype as we want to ensure we have a playable experience on another device incase our physical space idea does not quite reach our expectations. Tomorrow (8th) we have a discussion with our course leader Adam to talk him through our next steps also.

  • Continue with marketing and capturing images/clips.

  • Create basic setups to experiment with different projectors/media players etc. Evaluate effectiveness of different setups and come to a conclusion based on choice of projector.

  • Gather measurements/dimensions.

  • Document all findings.

  • Attend discussion with course leader (8th)
