Week 8:
Presentation
Friday 25th March 2022
WEEK 8 -
TO DO: CREATE PRESENTATION FOR 31ST MARCH

PURPOSE FOR PRESENTATION
We have been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to present at Barclays Eagle Labs Games Day at St Mary's Stadium next week, on the 31st March! This is a huge deal for us as we are able to present our game idea to hundreds of people. Today, Kiera and I scheduled in a day to begin our new mockups for the space however, as we still have some information to gather before we do this, I thought I'd take it upon myself to plan and begin making our presentation!

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?
The presentation is a way to showcase our final major project. It must outline what we've been working on, its purpose and our future plans. It'll be a great way to talk about what we are most passionate about, and it'll also be a good networking event for all of us. We have approximately 10 minutes to talk about our game and we have agreed to split this into two. (5 minutes each) I also intend to write a script to read during the presentation, as I find this much easier than speaking off the top of my head! I also want to cover the most important elements of the project and avoid forgetting things.

GOALS FOR THE DAY
Create a plan for the Barclays presentation, begin creation of presentation and potentially begin writing the script.

WHAT IS BARCLAYS EAGLE LABS GAMES DAY?

Barclays Eagle Labs work to encourage student led businesses! They are holding this event to engage with peers in the Games Industry, such as from other Universities and Colleges! At this event will be other tutors, lecturers, students, game studios, workers for Barclays and other guests! It'll be an amazing opportunity for our class to showcase what we're working on, gather feedback and make industry connections.

WHAT WILL WE BE PRESENTING?

Kiera and I have been selected to present our final major project, Getaway. This is a 'student showcase' essentially organised to showcase student work! We will be presenting Getaway and talking about our process so far, from our initial design choices all the way through to development. I feel it would be extremely necessary to talk about potential future plans with this project, because it is certainly something we've both spoken about and this project is aimed towards being a potential 'product'/intervention in the near future.

PLAN FOR PRESENTATION!

-
Introduction to project 'Getaway'. Who we are, where we study, what year we are in! Introduce passion for 'games for change'.
-
Began the year with... outline project goals and what we wanted to achieve from the project.
-
Talk a little about supporting research - go into physical spaces, the use of a physical space to support students on campus as well as achieve full immersion to encourage emotional and physical regulation.
-
Gameplay Experience - what is the game about? What do players do? How do players interact? Tie this into our project goals.
-
Inspiration - what inspired us to begin the project? The needs of students, immersive exhibitions, multisensory experiences, immersive technology, music etc.
-
Art Style - our chosen art style, visuals. Attention to detail, small meaningful moments.
-
The Power of Music - briefly cover music psychology research. How did we tie this into our design? How we are using music in our game.
-
Prototyping/Testing - the importance of this. Monitoring heart rates, ensuring our experience was as effective as it could be.
-
Outro - summarise the reason for our project, possible intervention. Encourage audience to reach out and seek help if needed. "You know what it's time for now... to the getaway".
-
Thank you for listening!
-
