Week 12:
Gameplay Video

Tuesday 17th - Wednesday 18th  May 2022

WEEK 12 -

TO DO: CREATE GAMEPLAY DEMO VIDEO

PURPOSE FOR GAMEPLAY DEMO

The purpose for this video is to demonstrate how to play, as well as the outcome of our experience. This is to demonstrate to the external markers what our game is about and how to interact, to make things clearer without actually having to boot up the server!

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

As we don't have much time left, I'll be creating a brief plan for this gameplay video, and gathering the clips needed to create it. I aim to have this done by LATEST the end of the week. I'll be using the same software used to create the documentary, as I am familiar with this and found it easy to use. At the same time, I will be creating our Game Trailer, so some clips may be necessary to use within both videos, which'll be useful.

PLAN FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS - COMPLETION BY: 19th LATEST.

  1. Create plan for Gameplay Demo

  2. Gather clips needed

  3. Begin to edit (iMovie)

PLAN FOR GAMEPLAY DEMO

WHAT TO INCLUDE?

  1. Someone walking into the space to play the game - narrate over gameplay.

  2. Close ups of setup in physical space - a room full of projections and music.

  3. Someone playing the game - interacting through gesture, notice music develop overtime

  4. Also show someone playing on their own device from home - "can also be played from the comfort of your home. All you need is a working webcam and your wrist to interact".

NEXT STEPS

This week I aim to gather as many clips of gameplay as possible, and we have booked in to borrow our two VIVITEK projectors on Wednesday the 18th of May, which we will use to setup the space and narrate for this gameplay demonstration video. As well as this, I'll be finalising the Trailer.

THE FINAL GAMEPLAY DEMO

Attached below is the final outcome for our gameplay demonstration video, which showcases how to play the game, what its purpose is and why.

This video shows how exactly Kiera and I intended for our final outcome to be presented!

The final video can also be found on our Youtube Channel alongside other material.

REFLECTION

I'VE DONE IT! I have completed the three main videos I was assigned to create and now they can all be viewed on our public Youtube Channel. I think this video does a great job at highlighting the purpose of our game and demonstrating how to play and where it can be accessed. As we wanted to create a physical experience as well as an online version, the video does a great job at touching on the accessibility of both and the future of Getaway, if schools, colleges and universities were to buy into this product.

NEXT STEPS

My final steps for this week are to edit, refine and finalise the BitShort.Studio site and work alongside Kiera to make further refinements to the experience, ready to be uploaded to our site and Itch.io.
